Union Minister Harsh Vardhan had successfully contested last Assembly elections from Krishna Nagar seat. 65-year-old Bedi, the country's first woman IPS officer, was named the BJP's chief ministerial by party President Amit Shah after a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Board last night. Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party declared former IPS officer Kiran Bedi as its chief ministerial candidate, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday challenged her for an open debate. "Congrats 4 being nominated as BJP's CM candidate. I invite u 4 a public debate moderated by neutral person n telecast by all (sic),"Kejriwal tweeted.AScrutiny of nominations papers would be done on January 22 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 24. The election results would be declared on February 10. Bedi began her campaigning

Meanwhile, Kejriwal will be filing his nomination papers for the New Delhi constituency on Tuesday, the seat that he won in the 2013 assembly elections. Bedi and Kejriwal were both members of Team Anna during social activist Anna Hazare's campaign for jan lokpal bill. They fell out over Kejriwal's decision to launch a political party and Bedi has been a staunch critic of the AAP leader since then.
Delhi goes to the polls on February 7 and the votes will be counted on
